Wool breeds

Almost half the population of sheep is raised for wool. These sheep are adapted to arid conditions and are characterized by medium-sized, with the ability to produce large amounts of the wool fibers. The breed was modified and adapted to conditions in different countries and different subtypes are usually combined with the name of the country they live in, for example, Australian merino.

Beef breeds

Sheep meat is found in medium or long wool breeds. 15% of the global population of sheep is bred for meat. Among medium-sized breeds of wool breeds include Suffolk, Hampshire, Shropshire, SOUTHDOWN, Dorset, Isle-de-France, Cheviot, and Oxford; and those are long wool breeds Leicester, Lincoln, Cotswold, and Romney Marsh.

Sheep tail fat

These sheep are so called because large amounts of fat can be stored in the queue and croup region. They are bred primarily for their ability to produce milk superior to other races; their wool, however coarse, rough, being used mainly in the manufacture of carpets. Sheep tail fat is found primarily in extremely arid regions of Africa, the Middle East and Asia and represents 25% of the total population of sheep. The main races are Awassi, Bakhtiari, Karakul and Karamon. Newborn lambs skins Karakul breed are used to manufacture so-called fur coats Persian.

hairy sheep

Overall, domestic sheep are more woolly than their wild counterparts, but some breeds they lack wool and covered with hair. They are found in tropical regions and are used for meat. Among such species include black belly sheep with Barbados sheep and Persian black-headed race Peliquey.

Features Sheep

Behavior not say much. Sheep does not have behavior, it acts instinctively: eat because he is hungry, drink because he is thirsty, flee when they feel threatened and running times herd or let hui where his eyes can see, hence it .. like sheep on the plains.

Ruminate, go bleating and making the famous "olive". I can live without water for a long period and can pluck grass that is very close to the ground, while cows can not do that. We know that where sheep pass not pass anybody else. No more of that.

Laughing all the termites. The best example is the sheep itself: is sheep wool is grass land and when they put in operation crusher still bald earth.

Like many other animals for meat and milk go into heat at regular intervals in the autumn months, although this can vary depending on the location in which they are grown.

In temperate climates, sheep can be in heat at any time of year. 1-2 sheep lambs born.

These few hours of birth already are able to follow their mother shorter distances.
