Bourbonnais brac dog is very little spread outside its home region. On its origin are several opinions.
After some would direct descendant of the old French Brac pointer infusion of English blood. According to others, it would be a purebred, without any mixture of British blood.
The breed was almost extinct at the end of the Second World War. Breeder Michel Comte was the one who revived the breed.
It is known as the French Bourbonnais Ponte dog.

Sturdy dog with a large head, skull bulging, nose suitable long nose loud and wide-eyed, vivid, hazel, ears medium length set high, slightly bent and well bonded to the head, body solid, deep chest, well let down, behind pretty short and straight, bony legs, with strong muscles, short tail, caught quite low, short hair, smooth and dense, slightly longer and thicker on the back.
The coat is short and rough, but the color of ripe peach, dark red, the animal being called by the French peach bud or wine lees.
Brace Bourbonnais has a height between 46 and 56cm and weigh between 15 and 25 kg.
