Origins

Devon Rex cat originated in England in 1960. The breed was formed by mating a wild cat and a domestic cat.

Initially it was thought that it bred Cornish Rex , but after investigations proved that it is a new breed.

First baby was discovered by Beryl Cox in Buckfastleigh, Devon.

After only eight years in 1968 it was imported to America. In 1972 it was recognized by ACFA. In 1983 Devon Rex cat breed wins CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association).

Aspect Devon Rex cat

It is known for its thin body, wavy fur and large ears. The coat has three types of hair (guard hair, hair AWN, and down hair) and is as soft and fluffy as the breed Cornish Rex .

Athletic body is visibly lower than ordinary domestic cats. Instead muscles and legs are strong and unusually large fingers are adapted for running and climbing.
